Our Lalela learners worked with artists Tony Gum and Jody Pausen, multidisciplinary artist Juan Stockenstroom, and Lisa Wakelin, a special effects makeup artist to help develop their technical, writing and conceptual skills.
Our model Genevieve began with Lalela 8 years ago, is now one of our Lalela leaders. When she graduates, she would like to pursue a career that gives back to her community. Makeup artist Jasmine is a quiet, conscientious 16-year-old who is a Lalela leader known for leading by example.
She is extremely creative and has a strong work ethic. Finally, the creative director + photographer of this project was Siyamthanda. Her favourite colours are pink for love and joy, yellow for happiness and green for peace which makes her think of her mother.
